Meet the Team!
- Founder & Director (she/her)
Katherine brings to SOL two+ decades of experience as an environmental educator, community gardener, and sustainability thinker. With the birth of her son, she realized just how beautiful, precious, and vital the early years of development are! She decided to shift her career focus to early childhood so that she could create meaningful nature connection opportuntities for young children and their families.
Katherine holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Communities with a focus on place-based education and ecological literacy, and is currently working on a Master's in Early Childhood Education, focusing on equity in early nature connection.

Blake Barbaree
Blake brings to SOL a two-decades-long career as a conservation scientist and avian ecologist---which means he is a naturalist extraordinaire and can answer all your most pressing bird questions!
Raja
- 4-Legged Ambassador (she/they)
Raja brings lots of love and fur to SOL.
Her belly rubs provide stress relief for everyone involved, and she helps make sure we're investigating the neighborhood washes daily.
